Warm water with honey, lemon and ginger for the voice

Why this dish? Adele has publicly talked about her obsession with hydration and voice care: warm water before concerts, steam, vocal rest after her 2011 vocal cord surgery. This honey-lemon-ginger drink is the classic home remedy for singers to soothe the throat.

Singer's remedy (throat care)

A warm, soothing drink with honey, lemon, and ginger, warming the throat and comforting before a vocal effort. The singer's discreet backstage ritual.

Before I go on stage, I never mess with my voice — it's my tool, everything goes through it. So I prepare this: nice warm water, not boiling hot, honey to coat the throat, a bit of lemon and a piece of ginger that wakes everything up. I sip it slowly, small sips, and I stay quiet a bit before the show. After my vocal cord surgery, I learned to cherish my throat like a treasure. Believe me, a voice needs tending like a garden.

Ingredients
  • Honey1 spoonful (throat soother)
  • Lemona few drops (freshness, vitamin C)
  • Gingera piece (warming, soothing)
  • Warm water1 cup (gentle hydration)
How it was made : Honey has been used since antiquity to soothe sore throats, and the honey-lemon combination is a universal home remedy. Singers and orators have always cared for their voices with warm drinks — hot and cold are forbidden as they contract the larynx muscles.
