Água de coco gelada — iced coconut water
Translucent water drawn directly from a green coconut, drunk iced with a straw. Slightly sweet, smooth, mineral — the simplest and most Brazilian rehydration there is.

Under the Rio sun, you grab a green coconut, the vendor opens it with a machete in front of you, you stick in a straw and drink. Nothing better after exertion. In the car I lost kilos of water every race, heart rate at 190 — so believe me, this water, cool and sweet, it's life coming back into the body. My country's nature knows how to take care of its drivers.
- •Green coconut (coco fresco) — 1 per person (whole drink)

Why this dish? Driving a Formula 1 car causes you to lose liters of sweat and requires perfect hydration — Senna's notes remind us. In Brazil, the natural drink for heat and exertion is fresh coconut water, rich in minerals: the "isotonic drink" that nature offered the champion on his own beaches.

Ingredients (period version)
- Green coconut (coco fresco) — 1 per person (whole drink)
- Ice — if available (coolness)
Ingredients
- Fresh green coconut — 1 (or 50 cl pure coconut water 100%) (drink)
- Ice cubes — a few (serving)
- Lime — 1 squeeze (optional) (tangy kick)
- Pinch of salt — tiny (optional) (isotonic post-exertion effect)
Method
- If you have a green coconut: pierce the top with a sturdy knife, insert a straw, and drink directly.
- Otherwise, pour pure 100% coconut water well chilled over ice cubes.
- For a "post-exertion recovery" version, add a squeeze of lime and a very small pinch of salt to replace lost minerals.
- Drink immediately, ice-cold.
How it was made : Coconut water has been drunk in Brazil for centuries, sold on beaches and streets, opened with a machete on demand. Before the invention of industrial sports drinks, it was the natural rehydration for workers and athletes under the tropics, prized for its potassium richness.
The contemporary twist : Serve it in the hollowed-out shell with two straws and a lime wedge on the rim — a "grid walk" version before the start.
