The Offering Table (hotep)
In ancient Egypt, the god is not served a French-style 'meal' but an offering table (hotep), set daily before the divine statue according to the formula htp-di-nesout, 'an offering that the king gives.' The ritual order is unchanging: first bread and beer (the basic nourishing pair), then beef and poultry (the lavish), and finally fruits, honey, and incense (fragrance and sweetness). The priests present the foods at dawn, the god extracts their essence (the ka), and then humans consume the returned portion: this is the 'reversal of offerings.'
Signature : Emmer Wheat and Wild Honey
Emmer wheat (pharaohs' wheat, Triticum dicoccum) is THE grain of Egypt: it provides bread and beer, the foundation of every offering. Honey, harvested from mud hives in the Delta, is the sweet gold of the gods — it was said that bees were born from the tears of Ra falling upon the earth. These two ingredients define all sacred solar cuisine.
