Anecdotes
Before becoming a movie star, Gal Gadot completed her two years of mandatory military service in the Israeli army (the IDF) as a sports and combat instructor. This physical training helped her a great deal later on when filming her action scenes. When the director of Fast & Furious learned that she had served in the army, it worked in her favor in landing the role.
When she auditioned for Wonder Woman, the studio kept everything secret: Gal Gadot didn't even know which character she was reading for! It was only afterward that she learned she would be playing one of the most famous superheroines in the world.
During the Justice League reshoots in 2017, Gal Gadot was several months pregnant. The crew had to get creative: they used digital effects and adapted her costume so that it wouldn't show on screen.
In 2017, Wonder Woman, directed by Patty Jenkins, became a huge success and one of the highest-grossing films ever directed by a woman at the time. It was praised for placing a superheroine at the center of a major Hollywood blockbuster.
In March 2020, during the Covid-19 lockdown, Gal Gadot gathered celebrities to sing John Lennon's song “Imagine” remotely. The intention was to offer comfort, but the video was widely mocked — a perfect example of a good intention that lands badly on social media.
